Kylee Chang

Research Associate, World Resources Institute

Kylee Chang is a Research Associate in WRI’s Center for Sustainable Business working to advance and develop the Science Based Target Initiative. She has experience in corporate greenhouse gas measurement, designing and implementing scientific research related to climate change, and working with private companies to adopt scalable solutions to achieve a more climate-resilient future.

Kylee started her career working at Chevron measuring and monitoring GHG emissions at its oil refinery in El Segundo, CA. She then spent 3 years as climate scientist at Scripps Institution of Oceanography performing research on urban air pollution, climate change in the Arctic, and ocean health to inform environmental policies at the California Air Resources Board, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and NOAA; publishing her work in respected academic journals. She has worked with private companies, including MPOWERD, Inc integrating sustainability strategy into their supply chain, and at Medtronic and Hewlett Packard, Inc. developing new products in their research and development labs. 

Kylee is originally from Hawaii and holds a Master of Environmental Management from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, a M.S. in Earth Science from UC San Diego, and a B.S. in Chemistry from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.

Cynthia Cummis

Director of Private Sector Climate Mitigation, World Resources Institute

In her role as Director of Private Sector Climate Mitigation she leads WRI’s work with businesses to reduce GHG emissions, including the Science Based Targets initiative, which she co-founded, and GHG Protocol’s suite of corporate GHG accounting and reporting standards. Cynthia was formerly Deputy Director of GHG Protocol and led the development of the Corporate Scope 3 (Value Chain) Accounting and Reporting Standard and the Product Life Cycle Accounting and Reporting Standard.

Ms. Cummis is a well-known expert in GHG accounting and brings more than 18 years of experience working on the issue of global climate change. Prior to WRI, Cynthia was the Director of Carbon Management at Clear Carbon Consulting where she managed carbon quantification and management projects for multiple Fortune 500 clients as well as large public institutions. Ms. Cummis was the Founding Director of U.S. EPA’s Climate Leaders Program, a voluntary program that partnered with businesses to develop corporate-wide greenhouse gas inventories and reduction goals. For more than 5 years, she led the design and implementation of the program and oversaw the growth of the program to more than 90 corporate Partners.

Cynthia holds a MPA in environmental policy from Columbia University in New York City and a B.S. from Cornell University in Ithaca N.Y.

Patrick Flynn

VP of Sustainability, Salesforce

Patrick Flynn is the head of sustainability for Salesforce, the global leader in customer relationship management (CRM), where he defines and leads the execution of Salesforce’s climate strategy to create a more sustainable and equitable future for all.

His portfolio includes the company's commitments to deliver a carbon neutral cloud to customers, operate as a Net Zero operations company, drive towards 100% renewable energy, guide sustainable real estate decisions, engage suppliers with Salesforce's Science Based Target, advocate for climate policies that facilitate a global transition to a 1.5°C future, enable customers to use Salesforce technology to analyze their carbon emissions, disclose environmental data in financial and ESG disclosures, and scale investments in natural based solutions like forests and oceans.

Patrick got the bug for sustainability early in his career as a mechanical engineer, when he did systems designs for high-rise commercial and residential buildings. This led to positions in cleantech investing and eventually to his current role at Salesforce

Claire Lafave

Manager of Client Strategy, Native

Claire is a Manager of Client Strategy at Native, where she helps companies to achieve their climate and regenerative agriculture goals. Claire brings experience developing sustainability strategies for CPG companies, real asset investment firms, and nonprofits. She holds a B.A. from Williams College and an M.B.A. and Master of Environmental Management from the Yale School of Management and the Yale School of Environment.

Andrew Mayock

Chief Sustainability Officer, Council on Environmental Quality, Executive Office of the President of the United States

Andrew Mayock is the Federal Chief Sustainability Officer where he leads President Biden’s Federal sustainability and adaptation policy agenda. 

Andrew brings over 25 years of public and private sector experience to the Biden Administration, including service in the Obama and Clinton Administrations. In the Obama Administration, Andrew served as Deputy Director for Management and Associate Director for General Government Programs at the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). At OMB, he led OMB’s management offices and the President’s Management Council with a focus on digital services, cybersecurity, acquisitions, financial management, personnel and performance management. As Associate Director for General Government Programs, he oversaw policy and budget for six cabinet agencies comprising $225 billion of the President’s budget and covering over one million federal employees.  

Prior to his OMB roles, Andrew served as the Deputy Vice President for Compact Operations for East and Southern Africa at the Millennium Challenge Corporation. He served as Executive Secretary at the U.S. Treasury Department from 2009-2010.  

In the Clinton Administration from 1995-2000, Andrew worked at the White House and the U.S. Treasury Department. Andrew was a consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton from 2003-2009 and McKinsey & Company from 2017-2020, where he focused on public sector programs.  

During 2019-2020, Andrew served on the steering committee of the Climate 21 Project, which delivered advice for a rapid-start, whole-of-government climate response coordinated.  

Andrew received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois, law degree from The George Washington University Law School, and a master in public administration from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. 

He and his wife have two children and reside in Washington, DC.

Anand Narasimhan

General Manager, Cloud Supply Chain Sustainability, Microsoft

At Microsoft, Anand is the General Manager, Cloud Supply Chain Sustainability. His group focuses on innovations across the supply chain in support of Microsoft’s commitment to a sustainable, carbon negative future. Previously he was the Managing Director, Asset Recovery at Sims Recycling Solutions. Offering an unparalleled range of services globally, Sims Recycling Solutions is the world's leading electric and electronic asset disposition and recycling company. Anand is also co-founder of Voxiva, Inc., a leading provider of mobile health services, and served on its Board of Directors. Voxiva was recognized by Fast Company as one of the 50 most innovative companies in the world. Anand was also the founding Chief Technology Officer of j2 Global Communications, a leading global cloud services provider (Nasdaq: JCOM), serving several million customers through a network across 50 countries. Prior to j2, he worked with IBM, at the Thomas J. Watson Research Center, New York on various innovations in information and communication systems. Anand has numerous patents, publications and innovations in various applications of Information technology, Communications, Healthcare services, Business and Consumer cloud services, and has advised many global organizations on various aspects of technology, markets, strategy and sustainability. Anand has served on various non-profit boards and advisories, including the Grameen Foundation, and the Simha Foundation, focusing on issues related to poverty alleviation, education, health and environmental issues in underserved communities.

Anastasia O’Rourke

Managing Director, Yale Carbon Containment Lab

Anastasia O’Rourke is the Managing Director of the Yale Carbon Containment Lab, which designs, tests and develops novel, low-cost, safe, scalable and verifiable methods of atmospheric carbon reduction and containment. She also leads Yale’s purchase of carbon offsets and is a Founding Board member of the Sustainable Purchasing Leadership Council. Anastasia has 20 years-experience in the environmental sustainability field, as a consultant, entrepreneur, and researcher with subject matter expertise in evaluating standards and ecolabels, ESG and impact investing, climate strategy, and sustainable purchasing. Prior to joining the Yale CC Lab, Anastasia was a Senior Technical Consultant with Industrial Economics working to develop and evaluate sustainable purchasing programs in government and industry. She was also co-founder of Big Room Inc, and Senior Consultant with the Institute for Sustainable Futures, University of Technology Sydney.

Anastasia holds a Ph.D. from Yale University in environmental finance, a M.Sc. in industrial environmental management and policy from Lund University, Sweden, and a B.A. with first class honors from Sydney University, Australia, for which she was awarded the University Medal. Originally from Australia, Anastasia now lives on the Connecticut shoreline with her Romanian husband and two American sons.

Austin Strayhorn

Analyst, Yale Carbon Containment Lab

Austin Strayhorn is an Analyst at the Yale Carbon Containment Lab, which designs, tests, and develops novel, low-cost, safe, scalable, and verifiable methods of atmospheric carbon reduction and containment. Austin worked with the Yale Carbon Offsets Working Group to develop Yale’s verified carbon offset program–a portfolio of verified greenhouse gas reductions. During college, Austin worked with a team of researchers based in Kruger National Park, South Africa for a semester on savannah ecology. His senior essay assessed the potential of collective property regimes and management practices to produce positive socio-ecological outcomes for human forest communities involved in environmental commodities markets. Austin holds a Bachelor of Arts in Ethics, Politics & Economics from Yale University and is based in New Haven Connecticut.

Bill Weihl

Founder and Executive Director, Climate Voice

Bill Weihl is the Founder and Executive Director of ClimateVoice, a non-profit initiative launched in February 2020 that is mobilizing the workforce to encourage companies to go “all in” on climate — especially in their use of their voice and influence to support public policy, everywhere they operate.

From 2012 to 2018, Bill was Director of Sustainability at Facebook, leading work on sustainability across the company, and helping to launch the Renewable Energy Buyers Alliance. Prior to Facebook, Bill was Green Energy Czar at Google, where his team pioneered Google’s work to buy clean energy for its data centers and helped found the Climate Savers Computing Initiative with Intel and WWF.

Bill is on the board of directors of Acterra, WeSpire, and Common Energy. He has received numerous awards, including Time Magazine's Hero of the Environment (2009), the Global Green Award for environmental leadership (2016), and the VERGE Vanguard Award (2018).

Prior to joining the Pinchot team, she worked in adult education (Antioch University/Seattle), high tech marketing (Aldus Corporation), and community and environmental journalism (High Country News, Jackson Hole News and Guide). She is also the author of Getting to Scale: Growing Your Business without Selling Out (Berrett-Koehler, 2006) and a long-time board member of YES! Magazine.
